Volunteers Versus Hired Thugs

April 10, 2013

Daniel Mabsout,

As we move from chapter to chapter the Syrian story seems to challenge all expectations . No one thought the Syrian army would hold together and keep resisting . All predictions said that the Syrian army will collapse after few months of fighting . The army has not collapsed and the question in Intelligence Services is : What held the Syrian army together ?
Instead of defending itself and the country the Syrian army is now attacking the enemy , and instead of falling apart, it is growing in size and is organizing Syria’s National Defense Forces (photo above) : an emergency army of volunteers whose number is around 8o thousands and will grow to become 390 thousand men and women who have undergone training to share in defending Syria. This growth in size of the defense forces is met on the other side by a decrease in the number of hired thugs among whom many have chosen to leave the battle field and many were killed as well.

The last visit of Obama to the region had for role to escalate the situation and push Jordan to introduce 1400 FSA soldiers to Syria after they received training in Jordan at the hands of US and British officers. Another 10 thousand thugs were introduced to Darayya . Weapons were shipped from France and Great Britain through Croatia who added weapons to the delivered arms of the opposition that were paid by the Saudis to be smuggled through Jordan and Turkey .This has been going on since last November and lasted until February .
In Lebanon, 1400 al Qa’ida fighter are staying in training camps sponsored by French officers on the ground who cross to Syria from time to time to operate there . Despite this, the situation on the ground is in favor of the Syrian army who is achieving many victories whether in Dar’a and Darayya, or in the vicinity of Damascus , in Aleppo and in Homs itself .
The goal of the army is to have full control over all major cities in Syria and to secure the main roads and highways so as to keep life going . In Homs, the army is controlling now almost the whole of the city and has taken possession again of Baba ‘ Amro after chasing the thugs out . THE FIGHTERS ARE INFORMING THE ARMY THAT THEY WANT TO WITHDRAW and soon Homs will become a safe city. Hama is under total control of the Syrian army and Aleppo is eighty percent under its control, while the outskirts of Aleppo are 50% under the control of the Syrian army and the Syrian army is getting ready to clean the whole city first, then than to proceed to the neighborhoods .

No doubt that the progress of the Syrian army is also due to the conflict among the factions of the opposition- mainly the FSA and the al Nusra- who lately targeted Riad al As’ad – chief commander of the FSA- in a car explosion that led to the amputation of his leg . The opposition also suffered great losses ; at least 300 were killed inn Dar’a alone .
At the political level , the opposition is not faring better. In exile, the Muslim Brothers of the Coaltion of Dawha are seeing their supporters on the ground decrease in number and the government formed in Dawha , with Ghassan Hetto as Prime Ministe, r cannot enter Syria and is forced to hide somewhere on the Turkish borders . The leader s of the so called opposition- especially the Muslim Brothers- are not doing much except staying at five stars hotels at Dawha or elsewhere. They are bankrupt politically and ideologically.

This does not mean that what the battles will end soon . No one knows when the confrontations with the criminal thugs will end, but now they have become on the defensive, and the terrorist attacks they make in Damascus prove their inability to take hold of one region and isolate it and keep it under their control as a foot for their fake government . Wherever the thugs of the opposition are found on the Syrian ground , it is because the Syrian army has not yet carried on the plan of evacuating them .

UN TO LAUNCH INVESTIGATION INTO CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACK IN ALEPPO

SYRIA REQUESTS THE UN INVESTIGATE THE DEADLY CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACK

Russia Welcomes UN Decision to Launch Probe into Incident of Chemical Weapons Use in Syria
Mar 21, 2013

MOSCOW, (SANA)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Gennady Gatilov, expressed Russia’s welcome of the decision taken by the UN Secretary General to conduct inquiry into the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
“We positively received the news about the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon quickly meeting the Syrian government’s request to conduct an investigation into the incident of using chemical weapons in Khan al-Assal in Alepo Countryside on March 19,” Gatilov told journalists in Moscow.
Earlier, the UN Secretary General announce that the UN intends to launch an international probe into the incident of launching a chemical weapon by terrorist group on Khan al-Assal area upon the Syrian government’s request.
“I have decided to conduct a United Nations investigation into the possible use of chemical weapons in Syria,” Ban Ki-moon said according to Reuters.
He told reporters that the investigation will focus on “the specific incident brought to my attention by the Syrian government.”
He noted that the UN will cooperate with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the World Health Organization.
“There is much work to do and this will not happen overnight… It’s obviously a difficult mission. I intend for this investigation to start as soon as practically possible,” said Ban Ki-moon.
Russia Expresses Readiness to Participate in Investigation Committee
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich, announced that Russian is ready to send experts to join a committee to investigate into chemical weapons use in Syria in case such a committee was formed.
“In case such a committee or experts delegation was formed, we would gladly propose for our experts to work within it,” said Lukashevich.
He warned against the intention of the “Syrian opposition” to bring military intervention in Syria, saying this would cause “bloody chaos”.
“This opposition has placed in front of it the mission of bringing foreign intervention after it became certain of the extend of support extended by its sponsors outside Syria…but we can’t feel worried by such dispositions,” Lukashevich added.
The Russian diplomat said that “There is nothing for Russia to discuss with the so-called ‘head of the interim government’,” reiterating however Moscow’s readiness to continue dialogue with the “Syrian opposition” figures who are interested in the peaceful settlement.
“That who is called the new head of the interim government rejects any possibility for dialogue with the Syrian government and calls for foreign intervention as soon as possible. So what issue could we discuss with him,” said Lukashevich.
He pointed out that Moscow considers it a must to implement the Geneva Statement on Syria and not talk about expanding the circle of participants in Geneva dialogue.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, and Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow, Riyad Haddad, discussed the situation in Syria in light of the information on terrorist groups using chemical weapons in Khan al-Assal.
Both sides stressed the need to conduct an independent investigation into this incident.
Terrorists on Tuesday launched a rocket with chemical materials from Kafar Dael in al-Neirab area on Khan al-Assal, killing 25 people and injuring scores of others.
Churkin Calls For Neutral, Thorough And Objective Investigation
Russia’s U.N. Ambassador, President of the U.N. Security Council for March, Vitaly Churkin, reiterated his country’s call for holding a neutral, thorough and objective investigation into the terrorists’ use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Russia Today Website quoted Churkin as saying after closed consultations at the UN Security Council on Wednesday, “We ask the Syrian government to investigate the incident and we have experts from several countries including Russia…I think that the UN Secretary-General will form a team encompassing highly experienced members, and we expect that this investigation will be neutral and objective…This issue will be considered carefully.”
He indicated that France and Britain have resorted to an undue tactic which aims at hindering the consultations similar to what happened in Iraq when the US tried to justify its invasion of this country through fabricating information claiming that Iraq possesses mass destruction weapons.
He added that “he cited similar examples about what happened in Iraq when the Council’s members talked about the necessity of sending experts to Syria to investigate the issue of chemical weapons in general,” and not only about the accident of firing a rocket with chemical materials on Khan al-Assal in Aleppo by the terrorist groups.
U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky said that the UN has received a written request from Syria’s Permanent Envoy to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari to hold an investigation.
The Agence France-Presse quoted France’s UN Ambassador, Gerard Aro, as saying following last night UN session that the issue is one of conducting investigation in the whole Syrian territories to shed light on what he described as “allegations”.
For his part, Assistant of Britain’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Philip Praham, that other countries could agree to the request for investigation.
Chizhov Warns Against Repeating Libyan Scenario in Syria
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union (EU), Vladimir Chizhov warned that repeating the Libyan scenario by the NATO in Syria will be a “flagrant strategic mistake.”
Answering a question on the intentions of repeating the Libyan scenario in Syria, Chizhov said “If there is an element of the political pressure, I don’t think that this situation will serve in solving the issues, and the /worst/ is that it will be an outrageous strategic mistake.”
He indicated that the mistake also lies in the agreement on implementing what has been announced by France and Britain on lifting the embargo imposed by the EU on importing weapons to the “Syrian opposition”.

Mar 21, 2013

He asserted that Iran calls upon all human rights organizations and institutions to condemn this crime and to shoulder their responsibilities.

The armed terrorist groups on Tuesday fired a rocket carrying chemical materials on Khan al-Asad area in Aleppo, killing and injuring dozens of citizens.

Mar 21, 2013

CAPITALS,(SANA)-Syrian students in Slovakia strongly condemned the heinous crime perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups against the citizens in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo Countryside where they used a poisonous chemical weapon that is banned in the international, ethical and humanitarian levels.

Syrian Students National Union/ Slovakia Branch stressed in a statement that “The armed groups and the countries which support them have trespassed all the values when they committed this crime which comes in the framework of a new and dangerous conspiratorial series.”

“This crime aims at undermining the political process and the national dialogue along with the political program of solving the crisis,” the statement added.

It reiterated “The Syrian students’ confidence that such brutal crimes will fail in undermining the will of the Syrian people who aspire for solving the crisis and building the new Syria that is stronger than ever.”

It also called for “Stopping the support and the finance of the armed terrorist groups which aim to undermine the security and stability of Syria.”

In their statement, the students called upon the UN to investigate how the armed terrorist groups obtained the chemical weapons in a way that is contradicted with the international laws.

They also called upon all the parties to sit to the dialogue table to get out of the crisis.

Syrian Students,Community in Czech Republic: Countries Supporting Terrorism Responsible for Khan al-Asal Attack

Syrian community and students in the Czech Republic also condemned the chemical attack by the armed terrorist groups against Khan al-Asal in Aleppo Countryside.

In a press statement, members of the Syrian community in the Czech Republic said that this attack and the Arab and Western reactions towards it have divulged again the malevolence of these groups and the hypocrisy of the West which backs them and guarantees their security in a time when it claims that it is keen on the international security and stability.

The statement indicated that this dangerous escalation comes in the framework of the plan of brining the foreign interference in Syria.

The community expressed confidence that this new crime will enhance the steadfastness of the Syrians and make them more determined to continue the battle against the Gulf-Western axis of evil and their tools.

For their part, the Syrian students in a similar statement held all the countries which support terrorism responsible for the crime committed by the terrorists in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo Countryside.

They called upon the UN to form a specialized and neutral technical mission to investigate this new crime.

They affirmed that the political program to solve the crisis proposed by the Syrian leadership and sitting to the dialogue table is the only solution to restoring peace, security and stability to Syria.

Syrian Communist Party (Unified) Condemns Terrorists’ Chemical Attack in Aleppo

Mar 20, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – The Syrian Communist Party (Unified) condemned on Wednesday the armed terrorist groups’ launch of a missile loaded with chemical materials against Khan al-Assal people in Aleppo countryside.
In a statement, the Party said that this criminal act comes after the terrorists failed to achieve any military gains in confronting the Syrian army, and it comes within a dangerous escalation of events and a qualitative leap in confronting terrorists.
The statement added that this crime coincides with the escalation made by some Arab League members, particularly Saudi Arabia and Qatar to legitimize the flow of weapons to terrorists in Syria, and it coincides with the efforts exerted by France and Britain to legitimize smuggling weapons to terrorists in Syria.

Russia: West Delaying UN Probe into Syria Chemical Attack

March 21, 2013

Russia accused Western powers of attempting to delay a United Nations probe into the recent use of chemical weapons by foreign-backed militants in the Syrian city of Aleppo.

During a Wednesday session at the UN Security Council, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin voiced Moscow’s support for the Syrian government’s call for an independent inquiry into the chemical attack by foreign-backed militants in Aleppo.
Russian deputy FM
However, France and Britain reportedly cited new claims by the Syrian opposition that there had been two chemical weapons attacks, one in Aleppo and another in the capital Damascus, demanding that both be investigated.

The Russian envoy strongly disagreed with the idea of focusing the urgently needed UN probe on the recent claims, which he described as “propaganda balloons.”

“As far as I know, there is only one allegation of the use of chemical weapons…. There have been no other allegations,” said Churkin, who holds the rotating presidency of the Council for March.

“To me, a concern which I expressed in the Council, was that this was really a way to delay the need for immediate, urgent investigation of allegations pertaining to March 19 [chemical attack] by raising all sorts of issues,” he added.

The Russian diplomat further questioned the credibility of the allegation about the second chemical attack in Syria, saying, “Instead of launching those propaganda balloons I think it’s much better to get our focus right.”

Syria’s Ambassador to the United Nations Bashar Ja’afari also said he was not aware of an alleged second chemical attack in the country.

“This (second) allegation was set up on purpose to torpedo the investigation on the real use of chemical weapons which took place in Aleppo,” Ja’afari said.

On March 19, at least 25 people were killed and many others injured when militants fired missiles “containing a chemical substance” into Khan al-Assal village near Syria’s northwestern city of Aleppo, according to a report by the official Syrian news agency SANA.

Syria Requests for UN Chemical Attack Inquiry

Local Editor

Syrian militant rebels uses chemical weapons against civiliansSyria on Wednesday called on the UN secretary general to set up an “independent” investigation into the news that opposition rebels have used chemical weapons in an attack, its UN envoy said.

Western diplomats claimed there was no confirmation that chemical weapons had been used by either side in the two-year-old conflict.

However, the Syrian government confirms chemical arms were used Tuesday in the town of Khan al-Assal near the conflict hotspot of Aleppo.

Syria’s UN envoy said he had delivered a letter which “requested the secretary general of the United Nations to form a specialized, independent and neutral technical mission to investigate the use by the terrorist groups operating in Syria of chemical weapons yesterday against civilians” in Khan al-Assal.

The Syrian opposition has accused government forces of using chemical weapons and also demanded an independent investigation.

UN Security Council nations are remaining cautious about the charges.
“We simply don’t have any information to corroborate, verify, substantiate” the allegations, a senior UN diplomat said.

THUGS ON STAGE

March 21, 2013

Daniel Mabsout,

Obama-Netanyahu-620x362[1]

Watch the two delinquent liars spilling their lies over us shamelessly . The two delinquent thugs stand on tribunes and speak as if nothing mattered , They are really twin brothers and it was never as clear as today , that they are both heading two rogue states , both founded on blood and genocide whether the USA of America that killed the original people of the continent that was …called Turtle Island exterminating 18 millions of them or the Israeli rogue state that has become the joke of the century since its whole story and history could be summarized in one word that is : Murder. These are criminals that should be under lock waiting for capital punishment instead of giving press conferences and being summoned by journalists who wait eagerly to write down and reproduce each lie to publish it and broadcast it and spread it to the four quarters. No one should miss on the gems vomited by Netenyahu and Obama of course especially the ones related to the chemical weapons that killed Syrian soldiers and Syrian civilians yesterday in Aleppo .
Obama thinks that the Syrian regime should be held responsible for the chemical weapons that were handed to the thugs of the opposition by Turkey and by order issued by the US administration . How wonderful on behalf of Mister change to give us directly the chance to hear him and see him where he really belongs next to the Zionist gangster, the killer who does not hide his crimes . What has happened to the world that people of this kind can walk around and speak and rule as if nothing happened . To those who bet on liars and criminals to give them their rights or to do them justice we say you must be totally deluded or drugged , go prepare yourself for the next battle if you don’t want to end up gassed by the chemical weapons of Obama or have your children killed by his drones or afflicted with the depleted uranium he generously pours on people as service rendered to democracy ! Learn the language that these thugs speak and learn the language they understand , keep your weapon within reach before they slaughter you and your family! These are the cowboys of yesteryear and the Zionist Haganas and the fanatic sectarian thugs acting in Syria!

US-NATO Backed Al Qaeda Terrorists use Chemical Weapons in Syria

March 20, 2013

SYRIA: US-NATO Backed Al Qaeda Terrorists Armed with WMDs. Chemical Weapons against the Syrian People

NATOBLOODAfter a 10 year war/occupation in Iraq, the death of over a million people including thousands of US soldiers, all based on patently false claims of the nation possessing “weapons of mass destruction,” (WMDs), it is outrageous hypocrisy to see the West arming, funding, and politically backing terrorists in Syria who in fact both possess, and are now using such weapons against the Syrian people.

At least 25 are reported dead after a chemical weapons attack targeting Syrian soldiers was carried out by NATO-backed terrorists in the northern city of Aleppo.

Aleppo is located near the Syrian-Turkish border. Had Libya’s looted stockpiles of chemical weapons been shipped to Syria, they would have passed through Turkey along with weapons sent from Libya by the US and thousands of Libyan terrorists who are admittedly operating inside Syria, and would most likely be used to target cities like Aleppo.

Worse yet, any chemical weapons imported into the country would implicate NATO either directly or through gross negligence, as the weapons would have passed through NATO-member Turkey, past US CIA agents admittedly operating along the border and along side Western-backed terrorists inside Syria.

Libya’s WMD’s are in Terrorist Hands

Libya’s arsenal had fallen into the hands of sectarian extremists with NATO assistance in 2011 during the culmination of efforts to overthrow the North African nation . Since then, Libya’s militants led by commanders of Al Qaeda’s Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) have armed sectarian extremists across the Arab World, from as far West as Mali, to as far East as Syria.
In addition to small arms, heavier weapons are also making their way through this extensive network. The Washington Post in their article, “Libyan missiles on the loose,” reported:

“Two former CIA counterterrorism officers told me last week that technicians recently refurbished 800 of these man-portable air-defense systems (known as MANPADS) — some for an African jihadist group called Boko Haram that is often seen as an ally of al-Qaeda — for possible use against commercial jets flying into Niger, Chad and perhaps Nigeria.”

While undoubtedly these weapons are also headed to Niger, Chad, and perhaps Nigeria, they are veritably headed to Syria. Libyan LIFG terrorists are confirmed to be flooding into Syria from Libya. In November 2011, the Telegraph in their article, “Leading Libyan Islamist met Free Syrian Army opposition group,” would report:

Abdulhakim Belhadj, head of the Tripoli Military Council and the former leader of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, “met with Free Syrian Army leaders in Istanbul and on the border with Turkey,” said a military official working with Mr Belhadj. “Mustafa Abdul Jalil (the interim Libyan president) sent him there.”

Another Telegraph article, “Libya’s new rulers offer weapons to Syrian rebels,” would admit

Syrian rebels held secret talks with Libya’s new authorities on Friday, aiming to secure weapons and money for their insurgency against President Bashar al-Assad’s regime, The Daily Telegraph has learned.

At the meeting, which was held in Istanbul and included Turkish officials, the Syrians requested “assistance” from the Libyan representatives and were offered arms, and potentially volunteers.
“There is something being planned to send weapons and even Libyan fighters to Syria,” said a Libyan source, speaking on condition of anonymity. “There is a military intervention on the way. Within a few weeks you will see.”

Later that month, some 600 Libyan terrorists would be reported to have entered Syria to begin combat operations and have been flooding into the country ever since.

Image: Libyan Mahdi al-Harati of the US State Department, United Nations, and the UK Home Office (page 5, .pdf)-listed terrorist organization, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), addressing fellow terrorists in Syria. Harati is now commanding a Libyan brigade operating inside of Syria attempting to destroy the Syrian government and subjugate the Syrian population. Traditionally, this is known as “foreign invasion.”
….
Washington Post’s reported “loose missiles” in Libya are now turning up on the battlefield in Syria. While outfits like the Guardian, in their article “Arms and the Manpads: Syrian rebels get anti-aircraft missiles,” are reporting the missiles as being deployed across Syria, they have attempted to downplay any connection to Libya’s looted arsenal and the Al Qaeda terrorists that have imported them. In contrast, Times has published open admissions from terrorists themselves admitting they are receiving heavy weapons including surface-to-air missiles from Libya.
In Time’s article, “Libya’s Fighters Export Their Revolution to Syria,” it is reported:

Some Syrians are more frank about the assistance the Libyans are providing. “They have heavier weapons than we do,” notes Firas Tamim, who has traveled in rebel-controlled areas to keep tabs on foreign fighters. “They brought these weapons to Syria, and they are being used on the front lines.” Among the arms Tamim has seen are Russian-made surface-to-air missiles, known as the SAM 7.
Libyan fighters largely brush off questions about weapon transfers, but in December they claimed they were doing just that. “We are in the process of collecting arms in Libya,” a Libyan fighter in Syria told the French daily Le Figaro. “Once this is done, we will have to find a way to bring them here.”

Clearly NATO’s intervention in Libya has left a vast, devastating arsenal in the hands of sectarian extremists, led by US State Department, United Nations, and the UK Home Office (page 5, .pdf)-listed terrorist organization LIFG, that is now exporting these weapons and militants to NATO’s other front in Syria. It is confirmed that both Libyan terrorists and weapons are crossing the Turkish-Syrian border, with NATO assistance, and it is now clear that heavy weapons, including anti-aircraft weapons have crossed the border too.

The Guardian reported in their November 2011 article, “Libyan chemical weapons stockpiles intact, say inspectors,” that:

Libya’s stockpiles of mustard gas and chemicals used to make weapons are intact and were not stolen during the uprising that toppled Muammar Gaddafi, weapons inspectors have said.

But also reported that:
The abandonment or disappearance of some Gaddafi-era weapons has prompted concerns that such firepower could erode regional security if it falls into the hands of Islamist militants or rebels active in north Africa. Some fear they could be used by Gaddafi loyalists to spread instability in Libya.
Last month Human Rights Watch urged Libya’s ruling national transitional council to take action over large numbers of heavy weapons, including surface-to-air missiles, it said were lying unguarded more than two months after Gaddafi was overthrown. On Wednesday the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, said the UN would send experts to Libya to help ensure nuclear material and chemical weapons did not fall into the wrong hands.

And while inspectors claim that Libya’s chemical weapons are in the “government’s” hands and not “extremists’,” it is clear by the Libyan government’s own admission, that they themselves are involved in sending fighters and weapons into Syria.

It remains to be seen where these chemical weapons came from. Should they appear to be from Libya’s arsenal, NATO, especially the US and Turkey, would be implicated in supplying Al Qaeda terrorists with WMDs, the very scenario the West has been paralyzed in fear over for the past 10 years, has given up its liberties, and spilled the blood of thousands of its soldiers to prevent.
The implications of Western-backed terrorists using chemical weapons, regardless of their origin, has cost the West its already floundering legitimacy, jeopardized its institutions, and has further shook the confidence of the many shareholders invested in them – politically, financially, industrially, and strategically. Such shareholders would be wise to begin looking for exits and cultivating alternatives outside the Wall Street-London international order.

ALEPPO: 25 CIVILIANS KILLED BY FSA IN TOXIC CHEMICAL ROCKET ATTACK

25 Killed by Rocket with Chemical Materials Fired by Terrorists in Aleppo Countryside

Mar 19, 2013

ALEPPO,(SANA)- Terrorists on Tuesday launched a rocket containing chemical materials on Khan al-Asal area in Aleppo Countryside.

The explosion of the rocket claimed the lives of 25 martyrs, while 110 citizens were injured, many of them in critical condition.

Foreign Ministry.. Syria has warned of offering Chemical weapons to terrorists

Foreign and Expatriates Ministry on Tuesday sent two identical letters to President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General stating that in a dangerous escalation to the crimes perpetrated by the armed terrorist groups in north Syria, they launched a missile at 7,30 in the morning from Kfar Dael region into Khan al-Asal area in Aleppo governorate.

“The missile fell in a region populated by civilians on a 300- m distance from the post of the Syrian Arab army soldiers,” the Ministry said in the letters.

It added that after the missile was exploded, a dense smoke has occurred which led to direct faint cases among citizens who were subjected to inhale those gases. The missile explosion and the gases have led to the martyrdom of 25 citizens until now while more than 110 others between civilians and soldiers were injured who were admitted to Aleppo hospitals.

“In two previous identical letters sent to President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary General on December 8th, 2012 issued by document 917/2012 S 628/ 67, Syria expressed its serious fear of offering chemical weapons to the terrorists by some countries which support them to accuse the Syrian government of using such weapons,” the Ministry said.

It added that Syria has warned of the danger of failure to confront the possibility of reaching banned kinds of weapons to the hands of al-Qaeda-linked Jabhat al-Nusra, particularly after these groups have seized a private factory in East Aleppo which contains tons of the poisonous chlorine material when terrorists threatened to use chemical weapons they make in a lab near Turkish Gaziantep city to claim that the Syrian government has used such weapons.

“Video tapes broadcast at that time on websites have showed the way of manufacturing the poisonous gases through chemical materials received by al-Qaeda from a Turkish company as they were tested on creatures,” the Ministry said.

It affirmed that Syria, who reiterates its commitments announced scores of times through diplomatic channels that it will not use those chemical weapons, if found, against its people, will go ahead in its constitutional commitment to pursue the terrorists and their supporters to maintain the country’s safety and security.

The Ministry went on to say that Syria calls on the international community to seriously move to prevent those terrorist groups from perpetrating more dangerous crimes against Syrian people through putting an end to the military, financial, political and logistic support offered by the countries which back those terrorist groups, particularly Turkey, Qatar and some western states without thinking in the repercussions of that support on the innocent Syrian civilians whom bloods are shed at the hands of the terrorist groups.

Health Ministry Calls on UN to Pay Attention to Terrorists’ Flagrant Crimes against Defenseless Civilians

In a statement, the Health Ministry called upon the UN and its health and humanitarian organizations to pay attention to the flagrant crimes committed by terrorists against defenseless civilians, demanding that they pressure the countries that are openly arming and funding armed groups to stop their support immediately.

The Ministry affirmed its commitment to providing citizens’ health needs, particularly in light of the current events.

The Ministry said that the citizens who were affected by the missile attack in Aleppo and were rushed to the hospitals are suffering from cases of unconsciousness, pupil contraction, neurological symptoms, rapid pulse, breathing irregularity, murmurs in lungs, and general weakness, in addition to a decrease in cholinesterase efficiency in patients’ plasma.

The statement affirmed that all health workers in the hospitals to which the injured civilians were rushed are in a state of alert and that they took all the necessary measures to save the patients’ lives who are being treated, adding that some of them have been discharged after their condition improved.

Russia: Use of Chemical Weapons by “Syrian Opposition” Is Very Serious Precedent

Mar 19, 2013

MOSCOW, (SANA)- The Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the use of chemical weapons by “the Syrian opposition” is “a very serious precedent”.

“This incident constitutes a very worrying and serious development in the context of the crisis in Syria,” the Ministry said in a statement published on its website.

The statement expressed Russia’s deep concern “over weapons of mass destruction falling into the hands of gunmen, which further aggravates the situation and pushes the confrontation in the country to a new level.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry called upon all rational parties in Syria to abandon violence and move to realistic steps towards achieving the political solution through negotiations based on the Geneva Statement adopted by the action group on Syria on June 30.

Terrorists fired a rocket containing chemical substances on Khan al-Asal area in the countryside of Aleppo. Information indicated that 25 people, mostly civilians, were killed and over 100 others were injured.

Moscow Voices Regret over Doha Coalition’s Election of So-called Prime Minister

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement that the Syrian opposition’s act of electing a “prime minister” may lead to further instability in Syria, voicing regret over this step which doesn’t help reach a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and contradicts the Geneva statement.

Lukashevich said that this decision increases the danger of division as it not only excludes the supporters of the legitimate current Syrian government, but also excludes the opposition forces that aren’t part of the coalition.

He said that what happened and the statements made by Ghassan Hito, who was elected on Monday by the Doha coalition as a so-called “prime minister,” show that this coalition has shifted from its affirmations in support of dialogue made in February to its hardliner course of its statement in Doha in November 2012.

Lukashevich said that Russia still believes that the way out is through ending all kinds of violence and achieving tangible agreements between the Syrian government and the opposition according to the Geneva statement, reiterating calls to all sides to support this resolution and to refrain from obstructing it.

Al-Zoubi: Terrorists’ Firing of Rocket with Chemical Substances in Aleppo is Serious Escalation

Mar 19, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Minister of Information Omran al-Zoubi held the countries that are arming the ‘opposition’ responsible for the crime committed in Khan al-Asal in Aleppo countryside.

In a statement to the journalists on Tuesday, Minister al-Zoubi said that the terrorists’ firing of a rocket with chemical substances from Da’el area in al-Neirab on Khan al-Asal is a “dangerous escalation”.

He stressed that the governments of Erdogan and Qatar bear legal, moral and political responsibility for the crime which claimed the lives of 25 persons and wounded over 100, the majority of them are in critical condition.

Al-Zoubi said that the crime is a first impact of the Arab League’s decision on the Ministerial Level. “Whoever got involved and announced direct and public military support to the terrorists, whether he was an emir, a minister or a prime minister, must be held to account for the crime,” he stressed.

The Minister indicated that that the terrorists used an internationally-banned weapon, calling upon the international community and the countries which are funding and arming the terrorists to assume their responsibility for this crime.

Al-Zoubi said that using this banned weapon is considered as a “dangerous shift in the course of what is taking place in Syria on the security and military levels”.

He added that the Syrian government has the right to act in accordance with the international law and file a lawsuit against the countries which are arming the opposition with internationally-banned weapons as to face the risks of providing such weapons to Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization.

He pointed out that the toxic gases and materials involved in the rocket cause immediate fainting, quiver and death, stressing that this type of weapons usually come under the category of “lethal and internationally-banned weapons”.

Minsiter al-Zoubi reiterated that “This shift in the type and manner of arming the terrorists embodied in using weapons imported from outside Syria across the border with some neighboring countries means that all allegations made by some countries, such as France, UK, Qatar and Turkey on providing logistic and “non-lethal” weapons to the armed terrorist groups in Syria are mere talk to sell the media.”

He stressed that the terrorist crime committed in Aleppo is “an exceptional case, compared to the events in the world at least over the last fifty years, that an internationally-banned weapon being used publically in this manner and from an area where Western and Turkish intelligence, among others are operating, along with the Jabhat al-Nusra members among other armed terrorist groups.”

He lashed out at “the false logic” of Europeans and Americans when they talk about the existence of chemical weapons in Syria that are being prepared to be used by the Syrian military leaderships, stressing that this “horrible crime is a clear indisputable evidence on terrorists using such internationally-banned weapons.”

The Information Minister affirmed that the Syrian armed forces can never use any internationally banned or prohibited weapons, if it possess any, and that Syria is always committed to the agreements and protocols it signed in this regard.

He said that resolutions the Arab Ministerial Council came out with on “arming the opposition” is “an attempt to provide a cover, legitimacy and legality to a standing reality” since arms supplies to the terrorist groups are coming from various countries paid by the Qatari government.

Al-Zoubi stressed that the situation on the ground is good and going well as planned for in terms of confrontation with the terrorist groups and that the morale of the armed forces are at their best contrary to the lies circulated by the media around the clock.

He pointed out that a number of terrorists, as shown in a filmed video, recently conducted tests under the name “Gale” in which they used chemical materials and toxic gases on rats treating to launch chemical attacks.

The armed forces restored security and stability to parts of Khan al-Asal area last November.

Deputy Foreign Minister: Syria Committed to Defending Its People

Later, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faisal al-Mikdad, said this new crime in Khan al-Asal adds to the record of the terrorist groups that are backed by some countries in the Gulf and the West and Turkey in particular, “which we hold responsible for the crimes against the civilians and the destruction taking place in Syria.”

“We warned throughout the past months of the allegations circulated by some countries and parties on the possibility of us using chemical weapons, and we stressed that in case Syria possessed any such weapons, it wouldn’t use them against its civilians under any circumstances,” al-Mikdad pointed out.

He stressed that Syria is committed to its right to defend its people and combat terrorism and its supporters, calling upon the international community to put an end to the interference of the US, France, Britain and Gulf states in the Syrian affairs and their training and arming of terrorists as this would reflect negatively on the region and the countries backing terrorism.

Mikdad: Crime in Khan al-Asal Adds to Record of Terrorist Groups Supported by Arab Gulf Countries, West and Turkey

Mar 19, 2013

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Deputy Foreign an Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad affirmed that the crime committed against civilians by the armed terrorist groups who launched a missile which produced gases in the area adds up to these groups which are supported by some countries in the Arab Gulf, the West and particularly Turkey which is responsible for the crimes committed against civilians and the destruction taking place in Syria.

In statements to journalists following his meeting on Tuesday with ambassadors in Damascus and representatives of international organizations operating in Syria, Mikdad said that this criminal acts proves the correctness of the analysis made by Syria which states that all the propaganda used in past weeks which made false accusations against the Syrian government were in preparation for committing this crime.

He said that the explosion of the missile martyred over 21 civilians and 10 Syrian soldiers who were near the site, adding that citizens who inhaled the gases resulting from the explosion passed out immediately and were rushed to hospitals in Aleppo city.
Mikdad affirmed that Syria will defend its people, continue its war against terrorist, and resume work to end the violence and the attacks committed by terrorist groups and those who arm, support, fund, harbor and send into Syria.

He called on the international community to be vigilant, because the threat posed by terrorist group won’t affect only Syria; rather it’s a prelude that will affect the entire region and the whole world.

“Encouraging terrorism and supporting it in Syria contradicts international law and Security Council resolutions,” Mikdad said, adding that Syria will send a letter to the Security Council requesting it shoulder its responsibly and put an end to the crimes of terrorists and those who support them.

Answering journalists’ questions, Mikdad noted that Syria warned long ago that the allegations on the possibility of using chemical weapons were meant to assist terrorists when they launch their missiles, which is exactly the scenario which was implemented on Tuesday before the convening of the Arab Summit and other international activities in order to mislead world public opinion.

He said that the countries that claimed Syria could use these weapons against its own people were in fact preparing the terrorist group to launch such attacks, pointing out that the authorities are examining the explosion site, the soil there and the patients who are suffering from the results of this criminal acts, and that the results will be presented to the concerned sides.

Responding to a question on the allegations that the Syrian Army launched the missile, Mikdad said that the missile was launched from an area controlled by terrorists and it fell near a Syrian Army location in area under the control of the Army and supporters who are not influenced by the terrorist groups, reiterating that Syria would never use such weapons if it possessed any against its own people and forces.

He said that the international community now knows through reports the true intentions of the terrorist groups and witnessed the tests they conducted on such weapons, particularly after the terrorists seized a factory for making chlorine and possibly used materials from it to produce such a weapon.

Answering a question on media leaks saying that Britain made a decision to transport troops from Afghanistan to the area for the purpose of intervention in Syria, Mikdad said that if such a decision was true, then it’s wrong to consider it or the arming of the opposition by some EU countries including France and Britain to be new decisions, because these countries have been arming the opposition and terrorist groups since the events began, in addition to participating in their operations, planning and executing and the murder of Syrians.
“Syria holds these countries since the first hours of violence responsible for complicity in murdering Syrians and shedding their blood,” he said.

Mikdad called upon the UN and the international community to put an end to the interference by the US, France, Britain and certain involved Arab Gulf countries in Syrian affairs and to the training and arming of terrorists, because this will have negative repercussions on the region and on countries which support terrorism under different justifications which only elicit sarcasm from Syrians and more self-confidence in confronting these countries which want to return Syria to the ages of colonialism, affirming that the steadfast Syrian people will thwart this conspiracy.

In response to the opposition’s political statements, Mikdad said that the political program for resolving the crisis by ending all forms of violence concurrently and by going to the dialogue table which is open to all those who wish to end this crisis through dialogue constitute the answer to all these questions.

Sayyeda Zeinab: the 7th Century Heroine of Karbala

It is well known in this region that powerful foreign and domestic forces in nearly every country, but particularly Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, are increasingly acting, for purely political purposes, to ignite a bloody internecine conflict within Islam. Indeed, the 3/17/13 attacks targeting four Sunni sheiks in Beirut that led to immediate road blockings in Beirut, Sidon and the Bekaa Valley is a reminder of the vulnerability of Lebanon’s own delicate sectarian balance to potential chaos.

The seemingly rapid escalation of Shia-Sunni sectarian strife pulsating back and forth across Syria and in and out of Iraq and Lebanon appear to some analysts to be unstoppable. This week the UN Security Council expressed alarm that rising sectarian violence threatened a return to civil war in Lebanon. The sect targeted for destruction, is mainly, but not exclusively, Shia Muslims and a potential conflagration among a few Muslim sects is smoldering from Yemen to Libya to Pakistan and in more than a dozen countries. Places of worship are being attacked with the hope of creating flight and destruction among so-called kuffar (infidels) and other alleged “enemies of Allah.”

As the violence continues in parts of Syria it is not always clear who exactly is behind, for example, the thefts of antiquities from museums and shops, the carting off of medical equipment from hospitals, the widespread stripping of certain factories in places like Aleppo and moving their assets to Turkey, apparently with little if any objection from Ankara, and the damaging of mainly Christian and Shia places of worship. But there is little doubt that Islamist extremists, are behind many of these crimes.
Against this backdrop of targeting religious institutions and shrines of minority sects in Syria, it is little wonder that following serious attacks on the SayWVhsTCV;

Syria, it is little wonder that following serious attacks on the Sayedda Zeinab Shrine near the village of Zoa south of Damascus, one as recently as last month, that Shia Muslims and others across the world are deeply concerned about its safety. Three recent attacks on the resting place of Zeinab bint Ali, the granddaughter of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) has also led to speculation that certain elements may launch a ‘false flag’ attack to ignite conflict between Sunni and Shia. Al-Qaeda affiliated groups such as Jabhat al Nursa and Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) have pledged to defeat Lebanon’s Hezbollah in the name of Allah.

Tens of thousands of Shia pilgrims and others from around the world visit this Damascus suburb every year, most to pray at the Sayyeda Zeinab shrine. It was also one of the reasons why I wanted to go there.

But trying to get to Sayyeda Zeinab has not been easy these past few months. In fact this observer’s new lucky number may be five. Because that is the number of times I thought I had a deal with a driver to take me from central Damascus to the Zeinab shrine. But each time, shortly before our scheduled departure, the driver invariably called to tell me his car broke down or he had to attend a family event or that the road had been hit by a mortar and was impassable, or he could not find any benzene. Taxis are understandably a bit spooked in Damascus these days and as with the road to the airport there are sometimes snipers peering around and an occasional IED or two. Fortunately some fellows from Lebanon who are among those guarding the shrine sent me a message that it was ok to come and I trusted their judgment. Finally I found a driver and he took me to Fao without problems. However, he was unwilling to wait for me while I visited the Shrine and he abruptly split, even before I had a change to pay him, leaving me to find another way to return to Damascus.

As this observer exited the Shrine, having performed absolution type prayers for myself and friends in Lebanon and Syria who specifically asked me to, I was approached by a middle-aged woman who turned out to be from Homs. She had lost her home and her neighborhood was emptied by shelling so she came to the village of Fao which she thought would be safe. But as she told me later she wanted also to be near Zeinab bint Ali, the 7th Century Heroine of Karbala, during these uncertain times.
One resident who lives near the Sayedda Zeinab told this observers that during the most recent attack on the shrine, the bomber detonated an explosives-packed van that he drove into a parking lot about 50 meters from the shrine. The blast shattered the shrine’s windows, knocked down chandeliers ceiling fans and cracked some of its mosaic walls. He added that militiamen at Sayyeda Zeinab were motivated partly by the desire to prevent a repeat of the wholesale sectarian violence that followed the 2006 attack on the Iraq’s Shiite Imam al-Askari Mosque, blamed on Al-Qaeda, which cost thousands of lives, both Sunni and Shia.

The story of Zeinab at Karbala, and her subsequent life, like the passion play of Karbala itself, is history that one never tires of hearing. I had read about both but when this obviously devout woman who told me her name was Miriam, approached me, assuming I guess, that I was a tourist unfamiliar with this holy place, which was true, I was pleased to sit with her, to be quiet, and to listen.

Miriam summarized the Battle of Karbala in October 680, in present day Iraq, and how it is commemorated during Ashoura (October tenth) by millions across religious divides because of its universal message of resistance to oppression, relentless pursuit of justice and even sacrificing one’s life for the good of the community. The actual battle pitted a grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), Hussein bin Ali, one of two of Zeinab’s brother killed that day, against the caliph of the time in the first of a series of succession crises that shaped the unfortunate historic split between Sunni and Shia Muslims.

I was amazed that like me, and others from various countries and cultures that I have crossed paths with over the past few years in this region, who were also raised in a Christian tradition, that my new friend Miriam, viewed the 7th century suffering of Hussein Ibn Ali and those who were martyred at Karbala, in some ways similar to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary, 700 years earlier. We both lite up at the realization that the other exactly understood this connection and the historic resistance ethos that Karbala and Calvary have meant for mankind and the current relevance of both working together for humanity as pillars of the Resistance.

But Miriam shed even more light for this admittedly dim observer by mentioning another woman, in some ways much like Zeinab, who was from Europe. As a group of chadored Iranian women gathered around us, with a Farsi interpreter relating Miriams words, our group shared a common and rapt spirituality. Miriam told us that during this month of recognizing women’s accomplishments, she was reminded of the similarity between Zeinab bint Ali and La Pucelle d’Orléans, known as Jeanne d’Arc who was falsely accused of heresy and burned alive at the stake for resisting the English occupation of her country.

Miriam explained many parallels, between the “two sisters of Resistance” as she called them even quoting from memory the historic speech of Zeinab in Damascus to Yazid, the killer of her family including her bothers Hussein and Abbas and their dozens of followers and relatives at Karbala in present day Iraq.

On the 11th Muharram, 61 AH, after the battle of Karbala, the caravan of the captives, including Zeinab, were marched through the city of Kufa and Sham. For one year they stayed captives in Damascus prison. Zainab encouraged resistance among her fellow prisoners and fearlessly faced Yazid and recited to him the wrongs he had done. Her address to Yazid ends with a black-clad Zeinab addressing Yazid. “You will not succeed in erasing our memory,” she says.

Miriam explained that Zeinab bint Ali like La Pucelle d’Orelans was devout, frugal and unstintingly generous to the poor, homeless and parentless. Both communicated with Allah and were fierce defenders of justice, the cause for which they both willingly sacrificed themselves. Through her good works Zeinab helped her community to know the principles and practices of Islam.

Concerning Joan, the uncrowned King Charles VII sent her to the siege of Orleans as part of a relief mission. She gained prominence when she overcame the dismissive attitude of veteran commanders and lifted the siege in just nine days. Several additional swift victories, against overwhelming odds led to Charles VII’s coronation at Reims and hastened the departure of the British. Despite her achievements, Joan was accused of heresy. Joan’s trial record demonstrates her remarkable intellect Miriam explained. The transcript’s most famous exchange is an exercise in subtlety. “Asked if she knew she was in God’s grace, the illiterate farm girl answered: ‘If I am not, May God put me there; and if I am, may God so keep me.’” The question of course was a prosecutorial trap carefully set for Joan. Church doctrine held that no one could be certain of being in God’s grace. If Joan had answered yes, then she would have convicted herself of heresy. As the still preserved trial transcript proves, Joan’s trial was a fraud from beginning to end and she insisted, even when threatened with torture and facing death by fire, that she was guided by God to liberate her country form occupation.
Miriam told us that “one of the legacies of the sisters Zeinab bint Ali and Joan d’Arc is that every women should realize that she can always make a positive difference for mankind. She can always reach for and achieve the better. Those men alone cannot win independence and prosperity, neither can the women. Together, and under the banner of resistance at Karbala and Calvary and following the examples of Zeinab and Joan d’Arc they can achieve to justice and defeat occupation and hegemony.”

One Lebanese druze pilgrim explained to this observer that Sayedda Zeinab represents all women and all who seek justice in the face of tyranny and that the Sayyeda is “everywoman” meaning that Zeinab does not belong just to the Shia or Muslims but to all people of goodwill.
Zeinab bint Ali continues to rest in peace at the sacred shrine at Foa village southwest of Damascus —her final community. Repairs at Sayedda Zeinab havebeen made and the beauty and tranquility the holy site has been fully restored.

No doubt to the relief of untold millions, the Heroine of Karbala is being protected by her own–Muslims from different sects as well as Christians like Miriam among others—for they, and all who are part of the culture of resistance to injustice, are truly among Zeinab’s own. It is right that we should protect her for Zeinab bint Ali, like Karbala, belongs to all of us.

As I was trying to figure out how to get back to Damascus and we said good-bye that Miriam told me she was Christian. She understood me perfectly and gave me a warm knowing smile when I gestured toward the glorious Sayyeda Zeinab resting place, and opined that it seems likely that spiritually, we are both Shia-Christian and Christian-Shia.
