SYRIA PAYS THE PRICE OF DEFYING THE WEST Posted on March 28, 2013 by Libya 360°

Haaretz piece reveals Syrian conflict is direct punitive result of Assad defying West, obstructing US-Israeli attack on Iran.

Haaretz has recently published an exceptionally revealing article, confirming that the Brooking Institution’s “Which Path to Persia?” report – a plan for the undermining and destruction of Iran – had indeed been set in motion, and that the current Syrian conflict is a direct result of Syria and Iran defying the West and disrupting what was to be a coup de grâce delivered to Tehran.

The article is titled, “Assad’s Israeli friend,” appears at first to be a ham-handed attempt to portray Syrian President Bashar Al Assad as somehow allied with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Instead, it actually reveals that Israel had attempted to execute verbatim, the strategies prescribed in the Brookings Institution’s “Which Path to Persia?” report, where Israel was to lure Syria away from Iran ahead of a US-Israeli strike and subsequent war with Tehran.

Syria obviously did not fall into the trap, and as a result, has been plunged into a destructive, spiteful war of proxy aggression by the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia and their regional allies.
The Haaretz piece states specifically:

In moving closer to Assad, Netanyahu had a number of motives. First, he wanted to put some space between Syria and Iran, in the hope that Damascus would stand aside in the event of an Israeli strike against Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz and Fordow.
Second, Israel’s loss of its alliances with Turkey and later with Egypt, compounded by apprehension about a deteriorating security situation in the south, pushed Jerusalem into buying quiet on its northern borders.
The third motive was to weaken Hezbollah, while the fourth was to address concerns that the Syrian rebels were in fact Al-Qaida operatives and that the fall of Assad’s regime would turn Syria into a hostile Islamic state.

Of course, while Haaretz admits that the so-called “Syrian rebels” are in fact vicious Al Qaeda terrorists with no intention of instituting anything resembling “freedom” or “democracy” in Syria, contrary to the West’s own long-peddled narrative, Israel is in fact one of three primary co-conspirators in raising the terrorist army in the first place.

In Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh’s 2007 New Yorker article, “The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefiting our enemies in the war on terrorism?” Israel was implicated directly in an insidious conspiracy to funnel aid and arms to sectarian extremists in a bid to topple Iran and its regional allies:

In the past year, the Saudis, the Israelis, and the Bush Administration have developed a series of informal understandings about their new strategic direction. At least four main elements were involved, the U.S. government consultant told me. First, Israel would be assured that its security was paramount and that Washington and Saudi Arabia and other Sunni states shared its concern about Iran.
Second, the Saudis would urge Hamas, the Islamist Palestinian party that has received support from Iran, to curtail its anti-Israeli aggression and to begin serious talks about sharing leadership with Fatah, the more secular Palestinian group. (In February, the Saudis brokered a deal at Mecca between the two factions. However, Israel and the U.S. have expressed dissatisfaction with the terms.)
The third component was that the Bush Administration would work directly with Sunni nations to counteract Shiite ascendance in the region.
Fourth, the Saudi government, with Washington’s approval, would provide funds and logistical aid to weaken the government of President Bashir Assad, of Syria. The Israelis believe that putting such pressure on the Assad government will make it more conciliatory and open to negotiations. Syria is a major conduit of arms to Hezbollah. The Saudi government is also at odds with the Syrians over the assassination of Rafik Hariri, the former Lebanese Prime Minister, in Beirut in 2005, for which it believes the Assad government was responsible. Hariri, a billionaire Sunni, was closely associated with the Saudi regime and with Prince Bandar. (A U.N. inquiry strongly suggested that the Syrians were involved, but offered no direct evidence; there are plans for another investigation, by an international tribunal.)

The Israeli belief that pressuring Syria would make it more “conciliatory and open to negotiations,” as well as the “motivations” cited by the recent Haaretz piece, are torn straight from Brooking Institution’s 2009 “Which Path to Persia?” report. The report stated specifically:

“…the Israelis may want to hold off [on striking Iran] until they have a peace deal with Syria in hand (assuming that Jerusalem believes that one is within reach), which would help them mitigate blowback from Hizballah and potentially Hamas. Consequently, they might want Washington to push hard in mediating between Jerusalem and Damascus.” -page 109 (.pdf)

Clearly Syria refused the disingenuous “peace deal” with Israel, unlike its regional neighbors Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar who are now all working in lock step with US-Israeli interests. While these neighbors were spared the sedition and carnage visited upon other Arab nations during the US State Department orchestrated “Arab Spring,” Syria has been hit hardest and longest. The resilience of Syria may have delayed or even shelved Western designs aimed at reasserting hegemony across the Middle East, including delaying indefinitely war with Iran.

Israel’s disingenuous attempts to reproach Syria are only one of several prescribed strategies Brookings called for in their 2009 report that have already come to pass. Another was Brookings’ suggestion to deslist and arm the bizarre terrorist cult, Mujahedeen e-Khalq (MEK). MEK had been listed as a foreign terrorist organization by the US State Department for decades, yet it was still heavily armed, funded, and its operatives even trained on US soil – this despite the group being listed for kidnapping and slaughtering US officers and civilian contractors.

In 2012, the US State Department would finally officially delist MEK, and announce that they would begin funding and arming them in earnest against Iran. The LA Times would report in their September 2012 article, “U.S. to remove Iranian group Mujahedin Khalq from terrorist list,” that:

The small but influential Iranian exile group Mujahedin Khalq will be removed from the U.S. list of foreign terrorist organizations, a U.S. official said Friday, following a high-priced lobbying campaign claiming the controversial group had renounced violence.

The New Yorker and the Uk’s Daily Mail would each in turn report that MEK was being armed, trained, and directed by the West in terrorist activities against Iran, including the assassination of Iranian scientists.

Image>: MEK is just one of many terrorist organizations, that despite being listed by the US State Department as such, still receives weapons, training, cash, and political support from the US government. This is a pattern seen repeated in Libya and most recently in Syria – each case spun and excused with a myriad of lies wrapped in false, constantly shifting narratives.

The US’ delisting and arming of MEK proves that the West possesses the political duplicity to hypocritically arm their own “declared” enemies. This double game of condemning terrorist organizations while simultaneously arming and directing them against the West’s enemies goes far in explaining how thousands of tons of weapons NATO and its regional allies have sent to so-called “moderates” in Syria have ended up almost exclusively in the hands of Al Qaeda’s Syrian franchise, al-Nusra , which has emerged as the most heavily armed, well funded, most organized militant front in the conflict.

The Brookings report is not just a piece of paper – it is a documented conspiracy, executed in plain sight by corporate-financier interests that have transcended at least two US presidencies in their latest campaign against Iran, Syria, and the wider Middle East. Haaretz may hope that people quickly read the article and conclude that Israel is somehow backing the Syrian state, never realizing what is being reported is instead a disingenuous “peace deal” meant to lure in, then fatally betray Syria just as was done to Libya.

Haaretz also hope readers do not realize the obvious – that Syria refused these insidious advances by the West which lead chronologically to the 2011 “uprising,” that Haaretz itself now admits is the work of terrorists, not “freedom fighters,” and that the New Yorker in 2007 revealed as being engineered by the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel itself.

It is clear that Syria is being punished, divided, and destroyed for obstructing Western designs against Iran. It is also clear that those forces fighting inside Syria against the Syrian people and their government, are aiding and abetting foreign aggression and what is essentially an attempt by Western interests to recolonize the Arab World. As mortars fired by NATO’s proxy forces, aimed at Damascus University, claim another 10-15 innocent lives, the public must be aware of the premeditated, punitive nature of the unhinged atrocities now being committed by these “rebels.”

Pat. Buchanan: ‘Israel is greater threat to US than Iran’

Prevent_Holocaust_BOMB_IRAN_by_Latuff2[1]
In February 2012, Patrick Buchanan, an American conservative politician, journalist and author was interviewed on Russian Television (RT). During the interview he claimed that Israel with 300 nuclear bombs is naturally greater threat to United States than Iran which has no nuclear bomb. Watch the video below.

A great majority of Yankees believe in political wrong myths about the Middle East.
1) Israel is America’s greatest ally in the region, and
2) Israel is the only democracy in the region, and
3) Iran is a great threat to the region and the United States. Let us study the facts.

1. Israeli Mossad maintains its largest espionage network in United States. Many of country’s top spies, executed, jailed or pardoned – were Jewish. Julius and Ethel Rosenberg are the two American spies executed for treason. Jonathan Pollard is serving life sentence without pardon. The notorious billionaire fugitive Marc Rich who founded Glencore and made to FBI’s Most Wanted list, along with Osama Bin Laden, was pardoned by Bill Clinton during his last days of Presidency.

Israeli Jewish author Barry Chamish admitted a few months ago that Israelis and American Zionists carried out the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

No Iranian has been convicted for espionage activities in the United States.

2. Israel’s military hero Gen. Matti Peled’s son Miko Peled, American Jew Zionist author Marianne Williamson, British Jewish author Gilad Atzmon and several other western Jewish and non-Jewish intellectuals agree that Israel is not a democracy. In reality, Israel is a colonial entity that sends native Muslim and Christian Palestinians to separate and unequal schools, determines housing and water distribution based on a person’s Jewishness, and restricts the movement of Palestinians. Natives are routinely stopped for security checks without probable cause, while Jews rarely are. Israel has no written Consitution and no internationally recognized borders.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has a Constitution which provides for a democratically elected Majlis (Parliament) with reserved representation from country’s religious minorities like Christian, Jewish and Parsee, and a President, elected every four year. Both the President and Majlis are subject to the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Ali Khamenei in the matter of national security.

3. Various international polls have shown that a great majority of people in the Muslim world (2010) and among the 15 European Union nations (2003), consider Israel as the greatest threat to world peace. Iran has no history of war with its neighboring countries during the last 150 years. Israel, on the other hand, has invaded all of its neighors since its creation by the western colonial powers in 1948.

Both Israel and the US have been involved in terrorist and assassination acts inside Iran since 1980s. Israeli Mossad has armed and trained anti-regime terrorist millitant organizations People’s Mujahedin (MEK) and Jundallah.

The American media claims that Iran is led by irrational terrorists hell bent on acquiring nuclear weapons. To counter this, the former head of Mossad, Meir Dagan, recently told CNN that the Iranian government and its President, Ahmadinejad, are rational. This is coming from a man who has no love for the Iranian people and even favored murdering innocent Iranian nuclear scientists. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Dempsey, also stated in a CNN interview that there is no evidence that Iran is seeking a nuclear weapon and that the Iranian government is a rational actor. The only leader acting irrationally is Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has been caught lying to the American public to push for wars in Iraq, Iran, and Syria,” wrote Adam Bilzerian on November 30, 2012.

Iran: A history lesson from a Jewish bigot

October 28, 2012

Imam Khomeini made a distinction between Jews and Zionists and he suppoerted and protected the Jews,” Unees Hammami, leader of 25,000-strong Iranian Jewish community.

On October 26, 2012 – the Asia Time published a “guest article” by Aaron Hesse, entitled ‘The real problem with Iran is history’.

Before I deal with the Hesse’s Israeli Hasbara lies – I would like to dig Aaron Hesse’s background. Aaron is a Jew from Nebraska who did his Master’s thesis on Iran’s nuclear program at American University in Cairo.

He is a ‘policy analyst and research intern’ with the Washington-based pro-Israel think tank, American Security Project, founded by former US Senator Gary Hart, a Zionist christian, in 2007. The ASP board of directors include Jews like Lt. Gen. (R) Daniel Christman, former Sen. Warren B. Rudman and Sen. John Kerry, whose both grandparents were Jewish.

Aaron, as a cunning Zionist propagandist, begins his article by giving the false impression that it’s the United states which has problem with Iran’s nuclear program and Israel is just an innocent bystander. Then he ask the ‘one million dollar question’.

Why does Iran want or need a nuclear program in the first place? Is it to threaten the US or its allies, to end Western influence in the Middle East, to support terrorist activities, or to project Iranian power and export the revolution? Or is it much deeper than that?,” asks Aaron.

One doesn’t need a PhD in political science to answer Aaron’s question. In fact, Iran has more reasons to acquire nukes as deterrent than Israel which has military defense pacts with world’s nuclear powers like the US, Britain and France. Islamic Iran is surrounded by five nuclear powers (Russia, China, Pakistan, India and Iran) and 15 American military bases.

Iran doesn’t need nukes to end US-Israel influence in the region which is on fast decline even though both the US and Israel have a nuclear stockpile of 10,000 nuclear bombs and each has far higher military budget; the US ($680 billion) and Israel ($17.3 billion) than Iran’s $5.6 billion per year.

Iranian president Ahmadinejad has said on several occasions that Iran doesn’t need nuclear bombs to defend itself as nuclear bombs did not save the US, USSR and Israel from military huliations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon. Iran has also held two International Conferences to create a nuclear-free Middle East.

Iranian and the 350 million Arabs in the region have no problem with the Americans or the western culture. They hate the US and western governments for their blind support for the illegal Jewish occupation of Arab Palestine.

Iran has a 150 year history of not attacking or terrorizing its neighboring countries. Contrary to that, the Zionist entity has invaded all its neighbors during the 64 year of its existence. Iran has not sponsored a single terrorist attack inside Israel while Israel has been arming and training anti-Iran terrorist groups like MEK and Jundallah. Mossad, along with CIA and MI6 played major role behind the 2009 protests against Ahmadinejad’s re-election. According to late Israeli historian, professor Israel Shahak, the Zionist entity has been planning to bring a pro-Israel regime change in Tehran since 1980s. During the eight-year Iraqi invasion of Iran in 1980s, US-Israel provided biological weapons to Saddam Hussein.

Iran began its nuclear program under the deposed King Reza Shah with the help of the US, France, Britain and Israel – because it made economic sense, and it still does. However, after the success of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 – the leader of the Revolution, Imam Khomeini ordered to shutdown the program calling it “un-Islamic”.

Then Aaron praises pre-Islamic Persian history by glorifying pagan kings like Cyrus the Great. Aaron’s praises Cyrus not for being good to his Persian subjects – but because he allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem in 536 BC. He also allowed Jews to rebuild the Temple of Solomon which was completed during Persian King Darius in 517 BC. The Temple was later destroyed by Roman in 70CE under Titus. The site was turned into city garbage dump for the next 600 years.

However, Aaron don’t remember that the Jewish Holy garbage dump was restored to Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem in 638 CE by Arab Muslim soldiers after cleaning the site with their own hands. For this unexpected gesture, the Chief Rabbi declared the Caliph Umar bin Khattab, the Promised Jewish Messiah. After sixty years, the Jewish community sold the site to Ummayyad Sultan who built Al-Aqsa Mosque at the site. Interestingly, in the 1970s, Professor Benjamin Mazar, former President of Hebrew University claimed that King Darius built the Temple of Mount on top of the little rock ridge at the western bank of the Kidron Valley and not on top of the Wailing Wall.

Aaron also blamed Christian Byzantines to make Iran so weak that it became very easy for Muslim Arabs to conquer Persia. However, Aaron intentionally skipped the history pages when the small Jewish community, like currently in the United States, became so powerful under the Persian King Ahasuerus, who took a Jewish woman by the name Esther as his Queen. She with the help of her uncle Mordechai, murdered 75,000 non-Jewish Persians over 2000 years ago. The Persian Holocaust is celebrated as a joyful ‘Purim’ by Jews each year around the world. Read the story from Jewish Book of Esther, here.

As signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Iran has responsibilities that it is not living up to, and needs to be held accountable,” claims Aaron. Even if some idiot believe him, would he has the right to ask Aaron that since Israel refuses to sign the NPT – who is taking the Zionist entity “accountable”?

History of sanctions advises that Iran is far from collapse

October 6, 2012

Via FLC

“… The record of economic sanctions is patchy, with the evidence showing they are poor at removing governments and their outcomes dependent on factors beyond the control of those imposing the sanctions. While economies are endlessly said to be “on the verge of collapse”, they never actually collapse: there is always something to trade, even if it is only some roots from the forest….

In Iraq a UN-supervised sanctions regime, described by its one-time administrator Denis Halliday as tantamount to “genocide”, failed to unseat Saddam Hussein. The Iraq experience shows that the poor become destitute and the middle classes are wiped out: …..

South Africa is usually touted as an example…. But there are crucial differences. South African sanctions were supported by the then-opposition movement, the African National Congress, which enjoyed majority support. There are not many voices in Iran supporting the sanctions.

Meanwhile the United States has shown its hand. For years the exiled opposition Mujahideen-e Khalq Organisation (MEK) has been on the US list of banned terrorist groups. The Obama administration lifted this ban on September 28. This has two effects. Any internal opposition in Iran can now be cast as aiding the MEK, a force widely viewed in Iran as treacherous since it fought alongside the Iraqi army after it invaded Iran in 1980. People who protest against Iran knows they face an increased chance of being hanged as MEK members.

The MEK is popular in Washington for the intelligence it has supplied on the Iranian nuclear programme and for rejecting clerical rule. The second effect is that Iranians will now see the MEK as playing the role of Ahmad Chalabi, the exiled politician who was favoured by the US to lead post-Saddam Iraq. Mr Chalabi filled newspaper columns around the world, but struggled to gain any popular support in Iraq.

Supporters of sanctions see the blame game being conducted in Tehran over who is responsible for the currency crisis – Mr Ahmadinejad’s opponents point to his incompetence- as a sign of fracture at the top. This may be true. But it is not as serious as it appears: it may just be politics as usual.

Mr Ahmadinejad, whose term runs out next year, has outlived his usefulness and the battle is on to succeed him. Perhaps Iranian politics is not so different from Israeli politics: Israeli politicians are at each other’s throats calling each other “Nazi” and “quisling” but the real business of the state – such as settling the West Bank – continues apace no matter which party is in power. Iran’s drive to master the nuclear fuel cycle is a national enterprise supported even by the leaders of the Green movement that took to the streets after the rigged 2009 elections.

Those who expect sanctions to bring the mullahs to their knees should watch what the Russians and Chinese are doing. China has reduced its imports of Iranian crude, proving that it no longer seeks to put a spoke in the wheels of every US policy. But it surely stands firm against allowing Washington to engineer regime change in Tehran. And the same goes for Russia. Be prepared for a less helpful stance if the US tries to tighten sanctions.

The Iranian leadership has been given a shock. The lesson to draw from it is not that the regime of the ayatollahs is about to fall. Rather, it is that during a period of weakness, Iran will be more receptive to a compromise on the nuclear issue. It is far better for the UN Security Council to focus on this opportunity for a new start to the nuclear talks than to settle in for a decade of starving Iranian babies.

MEK Still Isn’t OK

“…Whether the MEK still belongs on the FTO list presents a legal question. If it has abandoned violence—including the capability and intent to commit terrorism—then perhaps it’s earned removal. The group’s many critics point to rumors that the MEK has been collaborating with the American and Israeli militaries and intelligence services (for example, here). But the FTO statute counts only terrorism or terrorist activity that “threatens the security of United States nationals or the national security of the United States”; even if unsubstantiated rumors about MEK’s collaboration with the U.S. military are true, they would not qualify the MEK for FTO status under the statute. This highlights the problem: The law as written gives a pass to groups whose activities are viewed as useful to the United States, just as it could fail to apply to unsavory groups that do not pose a danger to the country. …”

Mujahideen Khalq off US terrorist list!

Many of the American supporters, accepted fees of $15,000 to $30,000 to give speeches to the group, as well as travel expenses to attend M.E.K. rallies in Paris. Edward G. Rendell, the former Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, said in March that he had been paid a total of $150,000 to $160,000….
“Yes, I was paid to speak at certain events,” said Philip J. Crowley, who served as an assistant secretary of state from 2009 to 2011. “But what drove me was the humanitarian issue…………………..”
The group did commit terrorist attacks in the 1970s and 1980s, first against the government of the shah of Iran and later against the clerics who overthrew him, and several Americans were among those killed. It allied itself with Mr. Hussein, the Iraqi dictator, who permitted it to operate from Camp Ashraf………
Some members of Congress have become outspoken advocates for the M.E.K., which originally embraced a hybrid of Marxism and Islamism, but now speaks of democracy. They accept its claim to be “the main organized opposition” to Iran’s clerical rulers.

A Profile in Treason

September 2, 2012
Ariadna Theokopoulosby Ariadna Theokopoulos
Thursday, August 30th, 2012 A Face to Launch 1,000 Ships?
No, not Helen but Ileana, not of Troy, but of the Tribe, and not ships but missiles.
Ileana Ross-Lehtinen wants Iran destroyed for the “security” of Israel.
Ileana Ross-Lehtinen, whom Alan Hart called the “zionist lobby’s First Lady” and “Zionist lobby’s chief stooge,” provides an emblematic case study of a sayan in a high position of power in the American government who works to further Israel’s and jewish power’s interests not only in disregard of but against the interests of the American people.

Who is she really?

Ileana Ross-Lehtinen
Hailing from a family of jews in Turkey who immigrated to Cuba, where she was born, she said her mother was converted to Catholicism and that she herself was Episcopalian. In recent years she has not mentioned her episcopalianism, certainly not in evidence when she twittered, “Gr8 2 speak honoring Rebbe’s #LivingLegacy; thx 2 @Lubavitch 4 & Rabbi Shemtov 4 strengthening the Jewish ppl! http://t.co/x5aFCRj4, a joyous outburst posted via web that she apparently regretted 22 seconds later when she deleted it, but not before some busybody Goy captured it.
Like Kissinger and other jews who boldly went where few jews had gone before, into the Republican party (which needed serious kosherizing), she became the first Republican elected to the House from Florida and quickly rose to prominence, all the way to the chairmanship of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Trying to deduce her allegiances and sympathies from her background is a difficult enterprise. If she has any nostalgia or emotional ties to the country of her birth, Cuba, its people and culture, they are more likely to be as ineffable as Proustian memories of flavors, say, the taste not of madeleines but of those sweet Cuban alfajores.

Otherwise nothing but callous indifference and hostility is evident from her support of the unlawful economic blockade imposed by the US for decades on that small island. The Cuban people are to her what Shahak described the Russian mujiks to be to the Russian jews: unwashed Goy rabble.

What does this Episcopalian actually do to “strengthen the jewish ppl”? What doesn’t she do? One of her most most generous donors is Irving Moskowitz, a very rich man who made his bundle by hard work as a “gambling magnate,” and who finances jewish settlements in East Jerusalem. It would be crude and hasty, however, to assume that it is because of his generous campaign contributions to her that she called for the US to defund the UN Palestinian Refugee Agency. I believe that Ross-Lehtinen and Moskowitz are sincerely of one mind.

She is also extremely vigilant as a peace maker and supporter of the peace process negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, which is why she vigorously objected when the Obama administration allowed the PLO to place the Palestinian flag outside its office in Washington, DC:

“Raising this flag in [the District of Columbia] is part of the Palestinian leadership’s scheme to manipulate international acceptance and diplomatic recognition of a yet-to-be-created Palestinian state while refusing to directly negotiate with Israel or accept the existence of Israel as a democratic, Jewish state.”

In 2011 she went on to condemn the Palestinian Authority’s proposed Security Council resolution reaffirming the illegality of Israeli settlements in the Occupied Territories as “part of the same strategy aimed at extracting concessions without being required to meet international commitments.”

On the murder by Israeli commandos of the peace volunteers on board the Mavi Marmara in international waters she spoke out vehemently against Israel’s critics:

Israeli soldiers had every right to defend their lives against a lynch mob attacking them with knives and clubs.”

Keeping her eyes peeled for Israel’s enemies, she has come up with a new “axis of evil”: Iran-Nicaragua-Venezuela. She informed the House Committee of Foreign Relations (HCFR) of just how dangerous this axis is for the security interests of … the United States, of course:

““Iran’s Ahmadinejad has had a receptive audience in Chavez who has been willing to work hand-in-hand with Tehran on everything from joint banking schemes, to oil and gas ventures, to military and security agreements, to technological partnerships. Chavez is reportedly selling uranium to the Iranian regime for use in Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s Banco Internacional de Desarrollo, sanctioned by the U.S. for aiding Iranian agencies involved in Iran’s nuclear proliferation, is also conducting business in Venezuela. In April of this year, Iran and Venezuela signed a defense pact in which Iran pledged to promote Venezuela’s defense capabilities. Lest we forget, though, Chavez is merely following the model first set-up by the Cuban dictatorship which has a joint bio-technology venture with the Iranian regime—a regime with a reported bioweapons program. News reports this week state that Ecuador’s Rafael Correa has agreed to host a branch of Iran’s Export Development Bank. Nicaragua now has an Iranian diplomatic mission in Managua. U.S. intelligence officials emphasize that Iran uses its embassies to smuggle in weapons and to develop and execute its deadly plans. This growing axis brings the Iranian threat closer to the U.S. and directly undermines our critical security interests. Where is the sense of urgency from U.S. officials in countering this threat?”

Her American patriotism, coupled with her Episcopalian faith, sharpen her vision, scanning the horizon for enemies of the United States, for she realizes there is always more than one axis of evil out there, and indeed she spotted another that she pointed out to HCFR in 2011, not forgetting to add her concern for her native shores:

““In Lebanon, we have witnessed the conquest of the country by the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis. The U.S. should never have been supporting a government with Hezbollah. Now, with Hezbollah in control, what is the justification for continued U.S. taxpayer investment? In Egypt and elsewhere, successive U.S. administrations failed to move beyond the status quo and prepare for the future. We should not associate the protest in Jordan and Bahrain with events transpiring in Tripoli, Cairo and Beirut. But there is one constant. We have failed to effectively use our resources to help build strong, accountable institutions that protect basic human rights. … In our hemisphere, the U.S. approach is one of misplaced priorities. The Havana tyranny has again ramped up its assault against a democracy movement in Cuba, detaining dozens of peaceful protesters, beating mourning mother, Reina Luisa Tamayo, and this weekend sending its shameless thugs after the Ladies in White. Yet, the administration has repeatedly eased regulations on the Castro regime.”

Right now, prominent and predominant in her worries is the need for a vigorous push for regime change in Iran. She has sponsored the Iran Freedom Support Act, which also authorizes the president ““to provide financial and political assistance to foreign and domestic individuals, organizations, and entities that support democracy and the promotion of democracy in Iran.”

She has also sponsored House resolution 750, the “Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act,” proving that you can wrap two enemies of Israel – I mean the US—in one House bill.

She has been complaining that what is really necessary, a truly “tough approach toward Iran has yet to be fully tried,” apparently dissatisfied with the First Jewish President’s efforts in this direction.

Perhaps Obama has not disappointed her as much as he has confirmed her earlier suspicions through his ill manners. Close to the end of his first term he had still “failed to visit Israel.” Other Episcopalians like her, but on the other side of the aisle, tried to excuse Obama, pointing out defensively that Nixon and GW Bush had also visited Israel only in their second terms, while Reagan, that enduring republican icon himself, never did! As an unofficial but respected bookkeeper among many Episcopalians who keep track of the American presidents’ bending over and the number of Israeli intromissions, she is the first one to make clear that the venue where the act takes place has as much symbolic significance as the submission ritual itself.

Preoccupied with prioritizing and judiciously apportioning the limited capacity of the US for military involvement on the side of the “oppressed” around the globe, she elucidated why attacking Libya was paramount for the interests of the American people, whose national security was threatened by Libya:
“The American people expect the President, as our Commander in Chief, to determine when U.S. national security interests are at risk and what he is prepared to command the men and women of our Armed Forces to undertake in order to protect and defend them. Deferring to the United Nations and calling on our military personnel to enforce the ‘writ of the international community’ sets a dangerous precedent.

In assessing U.S. security interests and objectives, the President must also keep in mind Qaddafi’s attacks on Western targets resulting in the deaths of Americans in the 1980s.”

As then, now again, the congresswoman has the American people’s interests at heart, when she draws attention to the danger posed by Iran. In supporting the Iranian exile group MEK, and asking that they be taken off the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations, she set aside her Episcopalian faith, and supported secularism, reasoning that MEK was a leading group able to establish a “secular government in Iran.”
This almost makes one impatient to be finished with Syria and Iran so that Ross-Lehtinen could then turn her attention to Israel, in search of a similar “leading group” that could turn it into a secular state.

As for the American people, dragged into wars not of necessity, but of choice, and solely to the benefit of a foreign state, the nation whose blood and treasure are spent against their best interests, the congresswoman seems as callously contemptuous of them as she is of the people of her native Cubay.

A violation of allegiance to one’s state, a betrayal of oath, trust and confidence are what constitutes treason by the dictionary definition. Patriotism means to stand up for one’s country not for a foreign state.
Ileana Ross-Lehtinen – a profile in treason.

Hillary’s Terrorists

May 18, 2012

by Justin Raimondo,
On May 21, 1975, Col. Paul Shaffer, a military attaché to the US mission in Iran, kissed his wife and two children goodbye, and entered a waiting car with his colleague, Lt. Col. Jack Turner, whose wife was getting their three children ready for school. It was the last time the families of these two US servicemen would see them alive.

As the Iranian driver pulled into a side street to avoid traffic a car blocked their passage and another car rammed them from behind. Three gunmen appeared and fired at the two Americans pointblank, killing them instantly: the three escaped in a third car, leaving a leaflet on the blood-drenched seat. The leaflet denounced “US imperialism” and bore the imprint of the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK), or “People’s Crusaders,” a Marxist-Islamist group led by Massoud and Maryam Rajavi.

All in all, the MEK killed 6 Americans in Iran: Lt. Col. Louis Lee Hawkins, an Army comptroller, cut down by gunman in front of his Tehran home, and William Cottrell, Donald Smith, and Robert Krongard, all employees of Rockwell International. They wounded Air Force Gen. Harold L. Price, and tried and failed to kidnap the US ambassador, Douglas MacArthur II. After the Iranian Revolution, the MEK supported the takeover of the US embassy in Tehran, opposed the release of the diplomats – calling a mass demonstration in protest – and demanded their execution.

Today, the MEK is campaigning to be taken off the US State Department’s list of terrorist organizations – and they’re on the brink of success. According to the Wall Street Journal:
Senior U.S. officials said on Monday that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has yet to make any final decision on the MeK’s status. But they said the State Department was looking favorably at delisting MeK if it continued cooperating by vacating a former paramilitary base inside Iraq, called Camp Ashraf, which the group had used to stage cross-border strikes into Iran.”

What the article fails to mention is that those “cross border strikes into Iran” took place during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war, when the MEK enjoyed the patronage of Saddam Hussein: MEK cadre fought on the Iraqi side during that conflict. They also were useful to Saddam in repressing internal enemies of the regime: after the 1991 Gulf war, MEK fighters were used by Saddam to crush uprisings in the south and in Iraqi Kurdistan. Maryam Rajavi told her followers: “Take the Kurds under your tanks, and save your bullets for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.”

MEK has been described as a cult, most notably in a scary report by Human Rights Watch, a fascinating Al Jazeera video report, and in a remarkable piece by Elizabeth Rubin in the New York Times. Rubin relates the testimony of Salahaddin Mukhtadi, an Iranian historian living in exile, who says dissident MEK members “are locked up if they disagree with anything. And sometimes killed.” In the MEK cult, having particular friendships is strictly forbidden: sitting and talking together is considered a crime, especially when the subject is one’s past life before joining the cult. Wives are ordered to divorce their husbands, celibacy is mandatory, and families are broken up: nothing must come between the members and their devotion to the cause. Forced confessions and “criticism sessions” occur on a daily basis, in which participants are subjected to group abuse called “ideological cleansings.”

After the American invasion and occupation of Iraq, Massoud Rajavi ordered his followers to greet the Americans as liberators – and promptly went into hiding. He has not been seen since, but is said to retain his control over the cult, using his wife, Maryam – who has been proclaimed the self-styled “President” of Iran by the group –as a front.
The US government took charge of the MEK facility, known as Camp Ashraf, and, although the Bush administration continued to characterize the group as a terrorist organization, President Bush cited Massoud’s cult as the source of “intelligence” on Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program.
Prominent neoconservatives began agitating for utilizing the MEK the way the Bush administration had used Ahmad Chalabi’s Iraqi National Congress, but efforts to openly put them on the CIA payroll stalled, along with the administration’s war plans. Somebody in the Bush administration must have figured out that funding and supporting a terrorist group that had killed Americans would not sit well while we were conducting an international “war on terrorism.”

However, it turns out the Bush administration secretly brought MEK cadre to the USfor military training, including communications intercepts and other clandestine cloak-and-dagger stuff: the program supposedly ended just before the Obama administration took office. Apparently the MEK were turned over to the Mossad, who utilized them to carry out the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists in Iran.

The MEK’s campaign to get their terrorist group legitimized has been characterized by large cash payments to prominent politicians and public figures in both parties: the list of MEK endorsers reads like a political Who’s Who of Washington bigwigs. The payments are ostensibly for speaking engagements at MEK rallies, but the size of these disbursements – ranging upward from $50,000 – indicates some good old-fashioned bribery.

There is an awful lot of MEK cash sloshing around the halls of Congress, and the cultists haven’t been shy about handing it out. Whether the Clinton Foundation or some Clinton-affiliated “charity” has partaken of the MEK’s largesse is presently unknown, but, as they say at the National Enquirer, “inquiring minds want to know.”

It’s fair to ask: where is all this unaccounted for cash coming from? While the Rajavi-ites use the familiar methods employed by cults to strip their members of all their assets – see the Al Jazeera video for a heart-rending account of how a major MEK spokesman ripped off his own elderly parents – it seems likely that, during their sojourn as Saddam Hussein’s favorite assassins, the MEK received compensation from the Iraqi dictator for slaughtering the Kurds and other regime opponents so efficiently and ruthlessly. Which means people like former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell, who has shilled for the MEK, and former Democratic party chairman Howard Dean, are recipients of Saddam’s gold.

Like so much of US foreign policy, the idea that the US would legitimize a crazed cult like the MEK sounds like the plot of a bad thriller. Yet it’s all about the timing: as the US-Iran nuclear talks loom, the prospect of our State Department in effect legalizing the MEK and its activities in the US is an open provocation that could possibly shut down the sensitive negotiations – and pave the way for war with Iran. No doubt hardliners within the Obama administration are using the MEK issue as a backdoor way to torpedo the Baghdad talks: whether they will succeed remains to be seen. As one State Department official told the Wall Street Journal: “To make that assertion on your own that the MeK will be removed is a realistic one. But in policy making you never know for sure what will happen.”

I have to add that the MEK, while claiming to have “renounced” terrorism, exists in an atmosphere seething with violence, and my own experience with them has borne this out. Whenever I have written about them I have invariably received emails from MEK supporters laden with explicit threats of violence. This is to be expected from members of a psycho cult, but in the case of the MEK it’s not like they’ve never killed any Americans before. Just ask the families of Paul Shaffer, Jack Turner, Louis Lee Hawkins, William Cottrell, Donald Smith, and Robert Krongard.

Iran busts major Israeli terrorist network

April 14, 2012
Islamic Republic’s intelligence ministry announced that it has busted a major Israeli network of terrorism and sabotage being operated from neighboring AzerbaijanOn Tuesday, Islamic Republic’s intelligence ministry announced that it has busted a major Israeli network of terrorism and sabotage being operated from neighboring Azerbaijan. The statement claimed arrest of several terrorists trained in anti-Iran foreign countries and seizer of a large amount of explosives, automatic weapons, silencers, military and telecommunication equipment and terrorist tools after a tough gun battle with the terrorists.

Earlier this month, the Jewish Pulitzer-Prize winning investigative reporter for The New Yorker magazine, Seymour Hersh had revealed that the US Joint Special Operations Command had been training members of Iranian terrorist organization Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK) since 2005 inside state of Nevada. Ironically, MEK is listed as a ‘terrorist group’ by the US State Department since 1997.

Last month, US Treasury Department issued subpoenas into an investigation against over three dozen former US high ranking government and military officials for accepting large sum of money in return for lobbying for an anti-Tehran government terrorist militant group, the Mujahideen-e-Khalq (MEK). A large number of these scums happened to be Jewish with loyalty to Israel, such as, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, Vermont Governor Howard Dean, CNN’s resident terror expert Frances Townsend, former US Attorney General, Michael Mukasey and John Bolton.

US and Israel share a long anti-Islam and anti-Iran cooperation with Azerbaijan’s communist-nationalist ruling class. The US, NATO and Israel have been using Azerbaijan as a launching pad for their intelligence, terrorism and military activities against Azerbaijan’s Muslim neighbors. Azerbaijan has a powerful Jewish minority with links to their Azeri relatives settled in the US, Israel and Britain after the fall of communist USSR. Azerbaijan’s strategic location and its large oil reserves work like magnet for oil-thirsty Israel.

CIA, Mossad and MI5 have been involved in covert terrorist activities in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The MEK carried its first major terrorist attack on parliament building on August 30, 1981, killing 72 lawmakers including country’s president Mohammad Ali Rajai and prime minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar.

In 2007, The Sunday Telegraph had reported that CIA was providing funding and arms to Iran’s terrorist group, Jundallah, to destablize both Iran and Pakistan. In October 2009, Abdolmalek Rigi, the captured leader of Jundallah confessed on Iranian TV that he was promised unlimited Washington’s military support and bases in Iran’s bordering countries to wage terrorist attack against Islamic Iran as the Obama administration doesn’t believe in the success of a military action to bring in a pro-US regime-change in Tehran.

Since Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was elected President of Islamic Republic in 2005 – the western covert operations and open war threats against Iran has increased due to Israeli fear of an emerging pro-Palestinian regional power along its borders. Tehran has been able to establish a significant political and economic influence in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and to some extent in Turkey and Egypt during the last few years. This has posed a great challenge to the US-Israel domination of the Muslim EAST.

To counter Iran’s rising political and military muscles under Ahmadinejad’s administration – CIA-Mossad-MI6 have been using drones for surveillance and covert terrorist operations inside Iran using MEK, Iranian Kurds and anti-Islam pro-royalist and communist groups. These groups have carried out anti-regime protests (Green movement), blowing up gas pipelines and assassinations of Iran’s nuclear scientists, military personnel and political figures.

On December 4, 2011 – Iranian Army’s electronic warfare unit announced that it had downed a US-built RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft after it crossed into Iran’s airspace from neighboring US-NATO military base in neighboring Afghanistan.

The latest bust shows that Iranian intelligence has been able to out-smart CIA-Mossad-MI6 gansters. Last year, several CIA and Mossad espionage cells were busted in Iran, Lebanon and Egypt.
