Thousands of Palestinians in Lod protest demolition

[ 14/07/2010 – 09:55 AM ]

RAMLE, (PIC)– Thousands of Palestinians in 1948 occupied Palestine hit the streets of Duhmush village, near Lod city, to protest the Israeli demolition of their homes.

Political and social figures took part in the demonstration that raised slogans denouncing the streak of demolitions in their village, which is not recognized by Israel.

Demonstrators said that they would resist the demolition orders and would not leave their ancestral land.

The Israeli authorities claimed that the targeted houses were built without permit and would start razing them in the few coming days after expiry of a court order freezing their destruction.

The Israeli authorities on Tuesday leveled three Palestinian homes in the Negev at the pretext of building without permit.

One of the landlords was hit with a rubber bullet fired by a policeman when the man tried to block municipal teams from tearing down his home.

Thank you for this post. Hope you don’t mind, but I’ve nicked the photo for a piece on our website about 7 new demolitions in Lod.
